Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 15, 2025

At GlowTechLink, we take your privacy seriously. This document explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you interact with our budget automation platform. We're committed to transparency and compliance with Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act and international data protection standards.

Information We Collect

We collect several types of information to provide you with effective budget automation services. Here's what we gather and why:

Account Information

When you create an account with us, we collect basic details that help us identify you and communicate effectively:

  • Full name and preferred display name
  • Email address for account verification and communication
  • Phone number (optional, for account recovery purposes)
  • Password (stored in encrypted format)
  • Company name and size (if registering a business account)

Financial Data

Because we're a budget automation platform, we need access to certain financial information. We handle this data with extreme care:

  • Transaction records you choose to import or sync
  • Budget categories and spending limits you create
  • Payment information for subscription billing (processed through secure third-party payment processors)
  • Bank account connection details (we never store your banking passwords)

Usage Data

Like most digital services, we automatically collect information about how you use our platform. This helps us improve features and fix problems:

  • Pages visited and features used within the platform
  • Device type, browser information, and operating system
  • IP address and general location (city level only)
  • Time spent on different sections of the platform
  • Error logs and performance data

How We Use Your Information

We're not in the business of selling your data. Everything we collect serves a specific purpose related to providing and improving our service:

Purpose Data Used
Account management and authentication Email, password, account details
Budget automation and financial tracking Transaction data, budget categories, spending patterns
Customer support and communication Contact information, support ticket history
Platform improvement and feature development Usage patterns, feature engagement data
Security and fraud prevention Login activity, device information, IP addresses
Subscription billing Payment information, billing history

We occasionally send service-related emails (like important updates or security alerts). You can't opt out of these because they're necessary for the service to function properly. However, we also send optional newsletters and product updates that you can unsubscribe from at any time.

Data Storage and Security

Your financial information is incredibly sensitive, and we treat it that way. Here's how we keep your data secure:

Encryption: All data transmitted between your device and our servers uses industry-standard TLS encryption. Financial data at rest is encrypted using AES-256 encryption.

Access Controls: Only authorized personnel can access user data, and access is logged and monitored. We use role-based access controls to limit who sees what.

Infrastructure: Our servers are hosted in secure data centers with physical security measures, redundant power systems, and 24/7 monitoring.

We store data on servers located in Taiwan and Singapore. Both locations comply with strict data protection regulations. If you're accessing our service from outside these regions, your data may be transferred internationally, but we maintain the same security standards regardless of location.

Data Retention

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active. When you close your account:

  • Transaction data is retained for seven years to comply with Taiwan tax regulations
  • Account details are deleted within 30 days of account closure
  • Anonymized usage data may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes
  • Billing records are kept for five years as required by law

Third-Party Services

We work with several third-party services to make our platform function properly. Each one has been carefully vetted for security and privacy practices:

Payment Processors

We use established payment processors to handle subscription billing. These services maintain their own privacy policies and security standards. We never see or store your complete credit card information.

Banking APIs

When you connect your bank accounts for transaction syncing, we use secure, read-only connections through certified financial data aggregators. These services are regulated by financial authorities and use bank-level security.

Analytics Services

We use privacy-focused analytics tools to understand how people use our platform. These tools collect anonymized data only and don't track you across other websites.

We don't share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. Any data sharing is limited to what's necessary to operate the service or comply with legal requirements.

Your Rights and Choices

Under Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act, you have several rights regarding your personal information. We take these rights seriously and have built tools to help you exercise them:

Access Your Data

You can download a complete copy of your personal data at any time through your account settings. This includes all transaction records, account details, and usage history. The export is provided in standard formats that you can use with other services.

Correct Inaccurate Information

Found something wrong? You can edit most of your account information directly through the platform. For changes that require verification (like email addresses), we'll send you a confirmation link to ensure security.

Delete Your Data

You have the right to request deletion of your personal information. When you close your account, we'll delete your data according to the retention schedule mentioned earlier. Some information must be kept for legal compliance, but we'll anonymize it so it can't be linked back to you.

Important note: Deleting your account is permanent. Make sure to export any data you want to keep before initiating account closure. We can't recover deleted accounts.

Restrict Processing

In certain situations, you can ask us to limit how we use your data. For example, if you're disputing the accuracy of information or challenging whether we need it, we can mark it as restricted while the issue is resolved.

Data Portability

Want to move to another service? We support your right to data portability. Export your information in common formats that other budget platforms can typically import.

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. Here's what we use and why:

  • Essential cookies: These keep you logged in and remember your session. You can't disable these without breaking the service.
  • Preference cookies: These remember your settings like currency format, date display, and dashboard layout.
  • Analytics cookies: These help us understand which features people use and where they run into problems.

We don't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. Your browser settings can control most non-essential cookies, though this might affect some platform features.

Children's Privacy

Our service is designed for adults managing personal or business finances. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 years old. If you're a parent and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

Privacy laws evolve, and so does our service. When we update this policy, we'll notify you through email and display a prominent notice on the platform for at least 30 days. Significant changes that affect how we handle your data will require your explicit consent before taking effect.

We maintain an archive of previous policy versions, which you can access by contacting our privacy team.

International Data Transfers

While our primary servers are in Taiwan, some supporting services operate from other countries. When your data crosses borders, we ensure adequate protection through:

  • Standard contractual clauses approved by data protection authorities
  • Certification programs that verify appropriate security measures
  • Regular audits of third-party service providers

Your data never goes to countries with inadequate data protection laws without proper safeguards in place.

Compliance with Taiwan Law

GlowTechLink complies with Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act. We're registered with the relevant authorities and undergo regular compliance reviews. If you have concerns about how we handle your data under Taiwan law, you can file a complaint with the National Development Council's Department of Cyber Security.

Our data protection officer is available to answer questions about compliance and your rights under Taiwan law.
